Louis Vuitton Myriad is a dark, opulent oud and rose fragrance from the house’s Les Extraits Collection, created by Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud. Myriad takes two of perfumery’s most iconic materials—rose and oud—and pushes their contrast to dramatic extremes: velvety floral richness against smoky, animalic wood.
The composition immediately reveals the deep character of Assam oud, delivering a dark, resinous and slightly leathery presence. Rather than smoothing the oud into the background, Myriad allows its raw woody facets to remain prominent, creating an unmistakably luxurious depth.
A lavish concentration of rose rises through the darkness, giving the fragrance its striking crimson personality. The rose is rich and voluptuous rather than delicate, with saffron adding a warm, metallic spice that bridges the floral and woody sides of the composition.
As it develops, cocoa introduces an unexpected bitter darkness. It isn’t a sugary chocolate accord; instead, it gives Myriad a dry, roasted richness that complements the oud beautifully. Ambrette adds a softly musky warmth, while clean white musk smooths the composition and gives the heavier materials room to breathe.
