Lost City by Gissah is a mysterious woody fruity fragrance for women and men, released in 2024. Part of Gissah’s Atlantis collection, it pairs the unusual apricot-like floral character of osmanthus with powdery orris, caramelized leather and smoky woods. The result feels simultaneously elegant, gourmand and ancient—soft around the edges but considerably darker underneath.
The opening combines osmanthus and orris. Osmanthus brings a distinctive fruity-floral character reminiscent of apricot and suede, while orris adds a cool, powdery elegance. Together they create an opening that feels refined and slightly mysterious rather than conventionally fresh.
At the heart, leather and caramel dramatically deepen the composition. Leather introduces a dark, tactile richness while caramel wraps around it with warm, toasted sweetness. Instead of becoming a straightforward gourmand, the sweetness emphasizes the contrast between polished leather and the softer floral opening.
The base is built around patchouli, guaiac wood and vanilla. Guaiac wood contributes a dense, subtly smoky woody character while patchouli adds earthy depth. Vanilla smooths their darker edges with creamy warmth, allowing traces of caramel and osmanthus to remain present deep into the drydown.
Lost City thrives on contrast: powdery iris against rugged leather, fruity osmanthus against caramel, and creamy vanilla against smoky wood. It’s an atmospheric composition with a distinctly luxurious darkness—sweet enough to be inviting, but woody and leathery enough to maintain its mysterious personality.
Lost City feels like discovering an ancient temple swallowed by the jungle—orange osmanthus blossoms scattered across moss-covered stone as incense smoke rises between forgotten columns. Powdery orris drifts through the humid air before caramelized sweetness begins glowing beside burning braziers. Deeper inside, worn leather, earthy patchouli and smoldering guaiac wood surround the ruins, while vanilla provides a final trace of warmth—as though something luxurious had remained hidden there for centuries.
