Overture 41 by Amouage is an opulent amber woody fragrance that takes the dramatic character of Overture Woman and amplifies it into an extraordinarily rich 41% concentration. Created by Annick Ménardo, it is a dense composition of saffron, boozy fruit, rose, resins, woods and leather—lavish, theatrical and unapologetically powerful.
The opening immediately sets the stage with frankincense, saffron, Calvados and cinnamon. Calvados contributes a warm, liquor-soaked fruitiness while saffron and cinnamon surround it with an intensely spicy glow. Frankincense cuts through that richness with its unmistakable smoky, resinous character, keeping the opening dark and sophisticated rather than overtly sweet.
As it develops, Rose Centifolia, benzoin, geranium and Sandalwood Drèches form an extravagant heart. Rose becomes one of the defining characters of Overture 41—lush, velvety and deeply saturated—while geranium adds aromatic freshness. Benzoin supplies balsamic sweetness and sandalwood brings a creamy woody texture that smooths the transition into the fragrance’s increasingly decadent base.
The drydown is built around vanilla, labdanum, patchouli and leather. Labdanum and vanilla create a thick amber warmth while earthy patchouli gives the composition weight and darkness. Leather provides the final contrast: polished, sensual and slightly animalic, preventing the sweetness of the resins and vanilla from overwhelming the composition.
Compared with the original Overture Woman, Overture 41 isn’t merely a higher-concentration edition. The saffron, Calvados and rose are pushed forward while the woody, resinous and amber facets gain additional depth. The result feels denser, smoother and considerably more imposing.
