Ashore by Amouage is a luminous floral fragrance for women and men, released in 2020 and composed by perfumer Mackenzie Reilly as part of Amouage’s Renaissance Collection. Inspired by the sun-drenched coastline of Ras Al Jinz in Oman, Ashore captures the almost surreal brightness of midday heat through radiant jasmine, dry spices, mineralic ambergris and Omani frankincense.
The opening combines pink pepper CO₂, cardamom oil and turmeric leaf oil. Pink pepper provides a sparkling spicy lift while cardamom introduces cool aromatic warmth. Turmeric leaf is the unusual element, adding a dry, earthy-green quality that gives the opening texture and keeps its brightness from becoming conventionally citrusy.
At the heart, jasmine sambac absolute, a solar accord and rose absolute create Ashore’s defining character. Jasmine is the centerpiece—radiant, creamy and intensely white-floral—while the solar accord gives it a hot, almost sun-bleached luminosity. Rose adds softness and floral depth without distracting from the jasmine.
The drydown combines ambergris accord, olibanum hyperabsolute and sandalwood oil. Ambergris introduces a salty, mineralic quality reminiscent of warm sea air, while olibanum brings the unmistakable resinous brightness of frankincense. Sandalwood provides a smooth, creamy foundation, softening the sharper mineral and incense facets as the fragrance settles.
Ashore is particularly interesting because it creates a coastal atmosphere without relying on a conventional aquatic structure. Instead, it evokes the shoreline through solar heat, radiant white flowers, mineralic ambergris and dry frankincense. At 25% perfume-oil concentration, it retains substantial depth while still feeling airy and brilliantly illuminated.
Ashore feels like standing on the coast of Ras Al Jinz beneath an almost blinding midday sun—pink pepper and cardamom shimmering through the heat while turmeric leaf rises from the dry earth. Jasmine sambac blooms brilliantly against the white stone as rose petals move in the ocean breeze. Beyond them, salty ambergris mingles with glowing Omani frankincense before creamy sandalwood settles beneath everything, leaving a radiant trail of white flowers, sun-warmed woods, incense and sea air.
